One of only two places I will pay to eat gumbo. Killer diner burger. Having both dined here and helped out FOH during festival season, I have the unique perspective of being on both sides of the counter. I have never — not even close — seen a happier work crew. Between BOH and FOH everyone helps each other and everyone is dancing together. Hollie is in the trenches with her workers, both BOH and FOH. She may look like the most precious flower, but she’s taking out the trash and makin’ burgers and refilling the coffee machine all the same. This is exactly the kind of restaurant we have to keep alive.
One of downtown Lafayette's gems. Great food, warm hospitality, and the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. So glad to have this locally owned spot in our community. We love you Ton's & Hollie!
I bring every single visitor from out of town to Ton's. The plate lunches never miss, never. And when the gumbo is available (a dish that is truly sacred to me) I always get it. Don't leave without a frozen coffee or cold pressed juice. Just do it & thank me. Also, Hollie the owner is a kind badass local who shares joy along with her food.
Stopped by for lunch around one and there was no wait. Order at the counter and they bring to your table. I got the catfish sandwich and my bf got the burger - both were flavorful and tasted fresh. The fried okra is the best in the downtown area. Tried the breakfast recently and omg the grits 🤤
I've been hearing fantastic things about Ton's grilled catfish sandwich and chicken & Sausage Gumbo, and tonight I was finally able to try them both. The Gumbo was superb, with a perfect consistency and spice level that really wowed me. I'm a huge fan of grilled catfish sandwiches, and this one was truly exceptional. The thick white meat fillet was cooked just right and tasted incredibly clean, fresh, and delicious. I met Hollie Girouard, 3rd generation owner, last night and discovered that they're open downtown Lafayette until midnight, Thursday through Saturday.
I don't get to come here nearly enough, but when I do, it's always amazing. Best hamburger in town. Love that you support the community and stay open for Pride. Great addition to downtown. Edit: I DON'T KNOW HOW I FORGOT ABOUT THE FROZEN COFFEE. Supreme festival drinks.
Tons is a staple in our community! Love the atmosphere and they truly make you feel at home no matter who you are ! The food is exceptional my go to for anyone visiting from out of town and family breakfasts !
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ton’s is hands-down one of my favorite spots downtown! From the moment you walk through the beautiful green door, you’re greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service that instantly makes you feel welcome. I know it’s going to be a great day whenever I start my morning with their breakfast bowl—double meat (sausage and bacon) topped with a perfectly fried egg—and a frozen coffee. It’s become my go-to order, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is inviting, comfortable, and versatile—equally perfect for enjoying a quiet meal alone or bringing along young kids. My kids especially love the sign behind the bar, which always features a fun message, the Cajun Word of the Day, and the daily specials. It’s those little touches that make Ton’s feel like such a special part of our community. The staff is consistently friendly, the food is always delicious, and the experience keeps us coming back. We’re incredibly lucky to have Ton’s in downtown Lafayette. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out!
You can taste the love they put into each one of their dishes passed down from 60 plus years of homemade recipes. Where else can you get gumbo for breakfast and beignets. Also don’t sleep on the vegan burrito and pancakes too. Oh and the fresh JUICE! Lord we’re so lucky to have them downtown and working across the street from them is a blessing.
I had the opportunity to visit Tons Downtown while traveling to New Orleans with our TRIO student group, and I was incredibly impressed! We were responsible for ordering over 50 meals for our students, which is no small task, but Jasmine made the entire process smooth and stress-free. She was organized, patient, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled perfectly. As someone who eats vegan, I was thrilled to find such delicious options. I ordered the vegan bowl, and it was absolutely amazing! The tofu eggs were hands down the best I have ever tasted. The flavors were incredible, everything was fresh, and it was clear that a lot of care went into preparing the food. Despite serving a large group, the quality of the food and customer service never suffered. Our students enjoyed their meals, and the experience exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for great food, excellent service, and vegan options that don’t disappoint, I highly recommend Tons Downtown. Thank you, Jasmine, for making our visit such a positive experience!
